i’ve been feeling a little nostalgic as of late, so this month’s mix is a collection of songs i listened to heavily when i was around 21 (give or take a year). here are the tracks, most of them listened to on a CASSETTE TAPE and each one with it’s own associated memory.
- un rayo del sol by le mans
- the joy of living by blueboy
- pearl by chapterhouse
- babies by pulp
- emma’s house by the field mice
- a day’s wait by black fantastic
- wild wood (portishead remix) by paul weller
- sleep well tonight by gene
- dinosaur #3 by adorable

hope you enjoy this as much as 21-year old me did!

this coming academic year is full of unknowns for me. the only thing i do (sort of) know is that i will be finishing my degree and it will require a lot of hard work. but beyond that, i have no idea what will happen: what kind of job i will get, where i will live, how i will get there, etc, etc. but if i’ve learned anything in my three decades of life, it’s that we’ll never know anything with certainty. so the best thing to do is to focus on what i know now. in some strange way, these songs seem to capture what it means to sit and reflect on what i have and what is now. they captivate me in a way where my wandering mind doesn’t want to wander, and just wants to stay and listen for a while (or at least for the 30 minutes or so).
tracklist:
- utan titel by ditt inre
- marazul by southern shores
- anna by taken by trees
- the world moves on by jens lekman
- funny heartbeat by kisses
- paradise by wild nothing
- monday 5AM by echo lake
- silver shore’s lake by pure bathing culture

this mix is a collection of (mostly) new(ish) stuff i’ve been listening to. generally, my mixes are a hodgepodge of songs from the past and songs from the present, but this mix is actually comprised of stuff that has come out relatively recently.
i think this might be my favorite mix i’ve made so far this year. there’s a sentiment it captures that stirs something in me. i can’t describe it, but i certainly feel it when i listen to these tracks.
tracklist:
- had we had it by frankie rose
- raina by nick waterhouse
- jet out of the tundra by lotus plaza
- sariza spring by violens
- reunion by M83
- messiah by heavenly beat
- phase by princeton
- jorden by ditt inre
- exercise #5 (september) by CFCF
- youth by daughter

some liner notes: the CFCF EP exercises is aces. i haven’t been so enchanted by an album like this in a long while (see my previous post). the violens LP, true, came out this month and it’s fantastic. although some of the songs were previously released last year, the versions on the album have been remixed. stream the album and read about the backstories behind the songs HERE. the ditt inre EP is set to be released by cascine on May 29. it’s the perfect combination of R&B beats, dark synth sounds, and beachy tropicalia. sort of like a summer rainstorm by the beach.

here’s my mix for november. the first track stole my heart the first time i ever heard it - lush and beautiful, but bittersweet. i won’t lie, this mix is a bit of a scando-fest - i have quite the affinity for scandanavian bands, and i think it’s certainly reflected here.
