how it ended by the drums

i always liked the drums and both of their records.  but after seeing them live last night, i am in L-O-V-E with them.  Jonathan Pierce, the lead singer, has such an amazing stage presence, complete with crush-inducing dance moves.

the line up for this show was unbeatable: openers were part time (SF) and craft spells (Seattle).  a perfect trio of jangly, woozy, dreamy, electronic pop.

these unfortunate facts are what motivate me to do the research and nutrition education work that i do.

Obesity in America: By the Numbers
68.8% of Americans are either overweight or obese.
“This is quite literally an existential crisis. This is going to drive health care costs, going to drive life expectancy. [We’re] looking at the first generation of children that will likely be less healthy than their parents and grandparents, in many cases,” reports Ray Suarez.

jorden by ditt inre

ditt inre is cascine’s newest artist, and, i, love their sound.  it’s a blend of the radio dept. and gentle touch, with a dash of korallreven’s tropicalia and a sprinkle of air france’s affinity for 90’s dance beats.  well, that’s my interpretation anyway.  that sax solo towards the end sealed the deal for me.

best & marsh (12” version) by new order.

THIS. TRACK. IS. AMAZING.

as a life-long new order fan, I don’t know how I’ve never heard this track before.  (thanks DJ Danny White!)  i suppose it’s nice to have something new to fall in love with for the very first time from a band i’ve liked since i was 10!

*UPDATE: upon more reading/research about the track, i’ve found out that it was the theme song to a football (soccer) show that was hosted by Tony Wilson in the late 80’s.
